ABOUT US

Our church, Highams Park, sprung to life on the 14th September 2019, after the merging of Edmonton Central SDA Church and Chingford Community SDA Church.

Although a newly-birthed church, we haven't lost our age-old passion for serving the community. Rather, we are all the more fervent to be a beacon of light and a bedrock of hope to our neighbours in Highams Park and beyond.

We are a place of comfort, whether that be in the form of worship, table tennis, an inspiring talk or a piece of cake! With a range of events, socials and talks, we aim to work with and for the community.

OUR BELIEFS

We, as Seventh-Day Adventists, believe in:

The Bible as the inspired word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16).

We believe that the study of God’s word is of prime importance in order to have knowledge of God as our Creator, His love through His redemptive acts, and to have an active, faith-filled relationship with Him.

Keeping Sabbath. (Genesis 2:1-3 & Exodus 20:8)

The first part of our name ‘Seventh-Day’ reflects our belief in the fourth commandment in Exodus 20:8, to keep the Sabbath holy. We aim to follow the practice of Jesus by observing the sabbath from Friday evening to Saturday evening, from sunset to sunset. We refrain from work to joyfully commune on Saturday to worship God with one another.

The Second coming of Christ (Matthew 24:30)

The latter part of our name, ‘Adventist’, refers to our belief in the soon return of Jesus, where he will appear in a visible manner to all on earth.
